Richard completed his apprenticeship in painting and decorating in Sheffield and obtained the City and Guilds Advanced Craft and Colour & Design Award.

Richard’s Daughter Adriana came to join the company in 2020 as an apprentice and is now a fully qualified lady decorator who is a great asset to the team.

In 1984 set up his family business, Richard Smithson Decorating Services.

We are a corporate member of the ‘guild of mastercraftsmen’.

As a professional painter and decorator we aim always to provide a quality painting & decorating service to residental, commercial & industrial clients alike.

One of our most distinctive recent projects took place in Sheffield, where a client approached us with an ambitious and highly creative brief: to recreate the atmosphere and artistry of a traditional Portuguese church within their café and jazz club.

The inspiration came from the stunning interior of the Igreja de Santa Marta in Ericeira, renowned for its rich decorative finishes and beautifully aged, hand-painted surfaces. The client wanted to capture not just the visual style, but the depth, texture, and character of this historic artwork.
